Growing to Greatness is an ongoing study of K-12 service-learning
Research to Make the Case for Service-Learning Teachers have observed for years that service-learning increases motivation and learning in youth from diverse backgrounds and different skill levels. This personal observation, however, has not persuaded most of the educational community to consider allocating scarce resources to support service-learning implementation. The persistent question has been, “Where is the research that demonstrates that service-learning actually works?”
Significant, high quality research has begun to provide persuasive evidence that service-learning contributes to important learning goals. This research needs to be shared with policy makers at the school, district, county, and state level.
