Former VISTA Projects at YSCal | AmeriCorps*VISTA has played an instrumental role in the instituting of many programs across America in its over 40 year history. At YSCal, VISTA has played a role since 2001, when the first VISTA Members worked to create a fully functioning, staffed and sustained youth leadership development program in the 13 regions of California. These VISTA Members helped to create this network, which is still functioning today.
The Cesar E. Chavez Service Clubs are currently benefiting from the service of VISTA Members. However, as a VISTA grant generally is limited to a three-year period, the VISTA program will end in the future, but not without the VISTA Members having contributed greatly in this initiative to improve the opportunities of California youth.
Applying for a VISTA program is the right of any organization that wants to confront the specter of poverty in America. Applying for a VISTA grant can give an organization the opportunity and resources needed to achieve the lofty goals that all organizations aspire to. More information can be found at the AmeriCorps website or by contacting the State Program office. |
