Become a VISTA Member | Becoming an AmeriCorps*VISTA Member requires dedication and motivation. The first step is the MyAmeriCorps application, which is the gateway for any person interested in AmeriCorps service. In order to create this application, follow these steps:
- Go to the AmeriCorps Website and create an AmeriCorps application using the “Apply to serve” option on the bottom of the page
- Search for the Chavez Service Club programs by searching for a “VISTA” program in the state of California using the program name “Chavez”
- Apply to the Chavez Club Programs you desire
- Save, Submit, and Get Confirmation of Application
Once you have created your profile and selected a position with the Cesar E. Chavez Service Clubs, the VISTA Coordinator at YSCal will contact you to discuss your interests and give more information about the program. After this initial conversation, an interview, either by phone or in person depending on the situation, will be conducted with the school(s) where you are interested in serving. If you are offered the position, you will be notified by phone and e-mail and be asked to complete AmeriCorps nominating paperwork in a timely manner to begin your service at a Pre-Service Orientation.
