Service Clubs provide middle school students the opportunity to learn
about the life and values of Cesar E. Chavez, to examine the needs of
their local community, to choose specific needs to address, and to plan
and implement service projects that address those needs. On March 31st,
the annual state Cesar Chavez holiday, students play an important role
in their local community’s commemoration of Cesar E. Chavez.
Each Service Club carries out four large-scale service projects
per year. The Service Clubs have started the largest student-run food
bank in San Francisco history, held a Winter Bird Festival to educate
the community about local bird species and environmental threats, and
served as the Lead Agency for local Global Youth Service Day events. These are only a few examples of the incredible things these youth have accomplished. By
providing youth the tools to be innovative leaders in their community,
the Service Clubs continually show that together ¡sí se puede! |
