Youth Service California provides a variety of resources to support
the Service Clubs and enhance student outcomes. YSCal’s activities in
this regard include:
- Assisting Service Clubs in implementing their program design
- Coordinating training and technical assistance opportunities for Service Club staff
- Developing collaborative relationships with statewide networks to support the efforts of local Service Clubs
- Securing resources to assist Service Clubs in the implementation of program activities
- Developing sustainability measures on both the statewide and local levels
- Identifying and disseminating best practices to assist Service Clubs in implementing program activities
- Monitoring Club performance and providing recommendations for future growth
Along with these activities, Youth Service California has provided a
myriad of print resources for the Service Clubs. A 9-month curriculum focusing on the life and values of Cesar E. Chavez
has been developed for the Service Clubs to use. A resource bin of
books, DVDs and posters is provided to each Service Club, which both
tie directly in to the 9-month curriculum, and augment both
facilitator and student learning.

To allow for greater project flexibility and youth voice, we have developed a Project Planning Guide that augments the curriculum. This separate guide allows Service Clubs to plan and execute service projects at their own pace.

In addition, Youth Service California has developed a number of
resources on both service-learning and afterschool programs. Of
particular use is the toolkit Service-Learning in Afterschool Programs:
A Resource Guide.
